WorldSBK calendar has been updated, and it has been stated that the final race will be held on a track that was previously used. The Valencia race will take place in the third part of the season on April 2-4.
New Tracks and Calendar Changes
The Ricardo Tormo Track will be one of the new circuits in Valencia. Although this track will not be entirely new for the track championship, it has not been on the calendar for about twenty years. It will replace the track that was removed from the calendar due to refurbishment works at the pit complex, before the upcoming MotoGP Spanish Grand Prix scheduled for May 7-9, in place of Jerez. Valencia hosted the WorldSBK in the last 2009 season.
Among the Chinese race tracks, the Shanghai International Circuit will be on the calendar. There were indications that races would be held in China during the summer months due to the possibility of WorldSBK increasing its number of races outside of Europe and the plan to hold races in China starting from 2024. Chengdu and Ningbo tracks were considered for the first stage; however, Shanghai is the only track currently possessing the necessary safety certification to host WorldSBK races. This prepares the ground for the track champion to make their first visit to China, having hosted MotoGP races between 2006-2008. Considering the interest shown by Chinese manufacturers in WorldSBK, the country is considered an important market for the champion.
Overall Season Structure
Two new tracks and two existing tracks will remain for the rest of the season. Jerez will not be on the calendar alongside the Balaton Park in Hungary in the 2027 calendar. Phillip Island will hold the season opener once more in February. Following that, Portimao will start the European races towards the end of March, after which the Valencia race will be held. Following the Assen and Aragon races, Most, Misano, and Donington will complete the first part of the season before the summer break. Magny-Cours will restart the season at the beginning of September. The last two parts of the European section will be Cremona and Estoril, with the season concluding with the final race in China.
