MotoGP 2027 Launches Track Preparations Under New Regulations

MotoGP is preparing for a new era with new rules for the 2027 season. The new regulations bring significant changes to engine technology and track preparation processes. These changes are also reshaping the schedule for pre-race tests.

New Technical Rules and Changes

MotoGP will compete under new rules starting in the 2027 season. These rules include reductions in engine capacity, modifications to aerodynamic systems, and changes in tire supply.

Under the new regulations, the engine capacity will be reduced from 1000 cc to 850 cc. Additionally, systems for adjusting suspension height that affect vehicle traction will be removed. Aerodynamic systems will also be reduced. Furthermore, the tire supplier will be changed to Michelin Pirelli. These changes will directly affect the technical specifications of the motorcycles.

Pre-Season Test Schedule

Test dates have been set for the MotoGP 2027 season. Tests will be conducted on different circuits and in various phases. These tests are critical for riders and newcomers. Tests are scheduled days apart, creating an intensive preparation process for teams and riders.

The dates set for the pre-season tests are as follows:

• Shakedown Test (For test riders and newcomers): January 29 and 30, Sepang International Circuit, Malaysia.
• Official Sepang Test (For all riders): January 31 and February 1.
• Second Pre-Season Test (Buriram Test): February 6 and 7, Buriram, Thailand.

These tests create significant stress for riders and teams. Conducting tests on such close dates complicates the preparation process.

Class-Based Tests

Separate test schedules have been determined for the Moto2 and Moto3 classes. These tests vary depending on the class. Both private and official tests will be held for Moto2 riders, while Moto3 race riders must participate only in official tests.

Tests for Moto2 will take place at the Circuit de Jerez. These tests are as follows:

• Moto2, Private Test: February 16 and 17.
• Moto3, Official Test: February 18 and 19.
• Moto2, Official Test: February 20 and 21.

Additionally, the opening event for the 2027 season will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This event will conclude with a beach party on February 21. The first weekend race event will take place in Buriram, Thailand, from February 5 to 7. These races will begin with the new 850 cc prototypes. Furthermore, riders will be on track with their new livery and 850 cc machines during the Valencia Test on December 1.
