Details of the Second Accident
Our representative, Bahattin Sofuoğlu, crashed during the second practice session at the Magny-Cours circuit for the WorldSBK French Grand Prix on Friday. The driver fell during the first and second turns of the morning practice session. After the accident, the representative returned to the session and completed his laps.
During the second afternoon practice session, he crashed again at the same location at 16:07 Turkey time. This time, the accident was more severe, and the representative spun violently in the sand pit. Following the crash, the #54 Yamaha YZF-R1 rider was immediately taken to the track medical center.
Official Assessment and Decision
The official assessment diagnosed the representative with a concussion. With this diagnosis, he was declared ineligible for the race. Decisions regarding ineligibility in cases of concussion rest solely with the authority of the medical board, regardless of the driver's self-assessment.
Following the initial examination at the track medical center, our representative was transported to a hospital in Moulins for further tests. He will continue his race alongside Mattio Rato in the Motoxracing Yamaha contingent for the remainder of the weekend.
Team Status
The Magny-Cours circuit is considered one of the best tracks for our representative in WorldSBK. In the 2025 season, he achieved his only top-10 finish from a total of 26 points, having secured the first place in 10th position. The team aims to return to this region next year.
Our team scored 4 points this season and currently ranks 23rd in the championship. Our teammate Mattia Rato is one position ahead with 2 points. He secured 1 point in the opening race at Phillip Island and the remaining 3 points by finishing in the points zone in his second race at Balaton Park. He will participate in the third practice session and the Superpole qualifying session on Saturday.
