Jack Miller's Warning to Yamaha: 'The Motorcycle is Almost Unrideable!'

3 min read · 3 views

MotoGP's performance issues experienced by Yamaha continued at Mandalika. Jack Miller, the Prima Pramac Yamaha rider, retired from the race after crashing in the fifth lap of the Indonesian Grand Prix in 17th position. Miller stated that the issues he experienced might be related to the engine's behavior.

Inconsistent Engine Performance

Jack Miller expressed that he experienced performance issues with the Yamaha engine. The Australian rider reported problems related to the motorcycle's condition.

Something is not working as it should.

Miller recounted his experience in the Japanese Grand Prix. The motorcycle felt reasonably good on the morning ride, but when they went into Sprint, the motorcycle became almost unrideable. Miller suspected that the issue might be related to engine management.

It was very similar to Japan. I felt reasonably good on the motorcycle in the morning, but when we went into Sprint, the motorcycle became almost unrideable.

Miller stated that he could not determine the source of the problem. He suspected there might be a technical issue other than the fuel mapping.

I don't know if it is the fuel mapping or something else, but something is not working as it should.

Miller said that the variability in the Yamaha engine response negatively affected riding. He emphasized that more work is needed to understand the cause of the engine's behavior.

The engine performance is inconsistent. We need to work harder to understand why.

No definitive technical fault has been identified yet. However, Miller's statements indicate that Yamaha needs to investigate the source of the problem.

Failing to Meet Team Objectives

The Mandalika race was a disappointment for Prima Pramac Yamaha. Team Director Gino Borsoi expressed the gap between the team's expectations and the results.

Especially when considering how we started on Sunday, our expectations were high. We hoped we could fight for points.

Borsoi admitted that the problems experienced by both riders hindered the team from achieving its goals. Borsoi stated that Toprak Razgatlıoğlu's injury made the races more difficult, and Jack Miller's crash was also an unnecessary setback.

Toprak's injury definitely made things harder. But Jack's crash was another unnecessary setback.

Pramac Yamaha management believes the current performance does not reflect the team's true potential. They stressed that identifying problems is not enough; solutions must be found to turn them into results.

We know we are struggling right now. But we also showed that we can fight for points. We need to understand why we cannot turn this potential into results.

Borsoi stated that the team's working methods need to be reviewed, emphasizing the need to do what is necessary.

We need to change something. We must be more precise in our work and do what is necessary to give both riders the opportunity to achieve the results we know they can get.

Factory Yamaha finished in the top 15 at the Indonesian Grand Prix. Fabio Quartararo finished ninth, and Alex Rins finished fifteenth. Miller's issues indicate that Yamaha has important technical problems to solve. Whether the engine-related problem will be confirmed will be clear after Yamaha conducts its technical inspection.
