Our pride [Toprak Razgatlıoğlu] is returning to the Mandalika circuit on his MotoGP motorcycle, having won his first World Championship in WorldSBK. Prima Pramac [Yamaha] heads to the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit for the Indonesian GP after a tough weekend in Japan. The team wants to leave behind the disappointing results of the previous races and compete for the grid in qualifying for the pilots and the YZR-M1's potential.
Our Representative Won the Track Where We Won the Championship
The Indonesian GP is of particular importance for the two Pramac Yamaha riders. Our representative finished second in the first race at Mandalika with Yamaha in 2021, securing the WorldSBK World Championship on this track. Our pride is now competing on a MotoGP motorcycle on a track we know very well for the first time, and continuing the adaptation process for the YZR-M1.
Our representative expressed their longing for Mandalika and the upcoming challenge with the following words:
I have beautiful memories of Mandalika, especially from 2021 when I won the first [WorldSBK] championship with Yamaha. Now we are coming back to Mandalika, but this time on a MotoGP motorcycle. I love this track, but riding a MotoGP bike will be a different experience and require a different riding style. We will see how it goes, but I will do my best. I am very happy to be back in Mandalika.
Borsoi: “I Want Indonesia to Be a Turning Point”
Team Director Gino Borsoi expressed the desire for reduced competition midway through the season and his expectations for the upcoming races.
After everyone's effort, we are coming from a few races where we did not get the results we deserved. For various reasons, we were not as competitive as in the middle of the season, so there is a strong desire to return to that level. I hope that Indonesia will be a turning point for us and that we will fight for the positions where we know we should be. There is great motivation to show that we can achieve better results within the team, and this is also true for the riders. As a team and with Yamaha, we need to work better in these final races of the season and show that the effort we put into this project is leading us in the right direction.
Jack Miller Led in First MotoGP Race at Mandalika
Team teammate Jack Miller also has positive memories of Mandalika. The Australian rider took a podium position in the first MotoGP race on the track in 2022 under tough conditions. Miller loves the hot weather and the character of the track, and he wants to help the team become stronger from the first sessions.
Long races come quickly, so I look forward to going to Mandalika with great anticipation. It is a track I truly love and I enjoy the hot weather there. I look forward to racing in front of the Indonesian fans in Indonesia.
Miller finished 19th in the championship with 28 points. The Australian rider finished 16th in the sprint race in Japan and 19th in the main race. The team wants to make a better start to the Indonesian weekend by making the best use of the short gap following Japan.
Tyre, Brakes, and Traction Will Be Decisive
Mandalika was included in the MotoGP calendar in 2022 after holding its first race in WorldSBK in 2021. The track has a length of 4.3 kilometers and features 17 corners; 11 of these corners are to the right, and 6 to the left. The track combines a long straight with a fluid sequence of corners. The heat and challenging conditions in Lombok highlight the track's character. Tyre management, braking, and traction are the key elements that will determine the result in Indonesia.
The Indonesian GP will take place on October 9 and 11. The main race will start at 10:00 AM local time on Sunday. Our representative aims to add a new stage to the MotoGP adaptation process due to being a WorldSBK champion.
