Fabio Quartararo, although showing a starting position of 9 for Yamaha, did not achieve much in the Sprint and especially the Sunday Grand Prix. It was not possible for drivers in positions higher than 12 and 17 to finish in the races. The situation for brand colleagues such as Alex Rins, Jack Miller, and Toprak Razgatlıoğlu was also challenging. This week, the 16th Season Event is taking place at Motegi. It is wondered whether Quartararo will experience a better Grand Prix experience in Japan.
Expectations for the Japanese Race Performance
Fabio Quartararo commented on the possibility of experiencing a better Grand Prix in Japan:
I have no idea, I just try to give my best
Quartararo stated that he will observe how the grip in the track will be and whether he can have a good race time. Therefore, he said his goal is to make a direct entry into Q2 on Saturday. He emphasized that starting further ahead is always better, but highlighted the importance of position in a long race.
Weather Conditions and Tyre Differences
The Japanese races will have variable conditions. Jack Miller of the Yamaha team is predicting rain, which could increase his chances. Quartararo responded to this issue:
No. In the end, it doesn't matter whether it is dry or wet
Quartararo stated that it does not matter in the end whether it is raining or not. However, he admitted that wet conditions can affect them, such as track grip and tyre conditions. Therefore, he said he would try to understand the tyres well and notice that there is a different tyre condition from Austria. He also mentioned that he would try to understand how far he can push forward during the race.
Heim GP Expectations
Although Yamaha and Quartararo are not in a position to win championship races, it is thought that a Grand Prix in Japan could be a satisfactory local race. Quartararo softened his expectations:
I think we are in a completely different situation, where we just try to find our base and finish as well as possible
The 27-year-old rider stated that they are in a completely different situation and that they are just trying to find their base and finish as well as possible. He expressed that it would be different in terms of satisfaction, compared to KTM's situation in Austria.
