Marc Marquez secured second place on Friday of the Misano Grand Prix, acknowledging that Marco Bezzecchi was stronger than him in pace during the race. The Spanish rider expressed dissatisfaction with Valentino Rossi being constantly shown in the same frame as him, stating that he had already competed sufficiently on track.

Race and Media Management

Marc Marquez finished second on Friday of the San Marino Grand Prix. In the FP1 session held in the morning, the fastest rider, the Lenovo rider on the Ducati, secured second place in the Pre-Qualifying session in the afternoon, behind Marco Bezzecchi. Marquez stated in his overall assessment of the day that he could not have had such a comfortable start as in Aragon, and specifically noted that Bezzecchi lagged behind him in pace during the race.

Marquez pointed out that having the broadcast management constantly showing himself and Valentino Rossi in the same frame was unnecessary. He felt it was superfluous to bring up the rivalry between the two riders, especially given the competition between them in the past.

Pictures of me and Rossi? That’s the game.

Marquez emphasized that the real competition takes place on the track. He stated that there is no need for these types of games.

Ducati and Aprilia Performance Differences

Marc Marquez stated that the performance difference between Ducati and Aprilia appeared in different sections of the track during the Misano race. He noted that the Ducati performed well in sections with a high degree of grip, while the Aprilia was stronger on faster corners.

Marquez expressed that Marco Bezzecchi was very strong on fast corners and that the Aprilia showed its potential in Assen and Silverstone. He mentioned that gaining time directly in these sections was difficult for the Ducati, and therefore the team would try to gain an advantage in areas where the motorcycle is stronger.

Misano is one of the tracks where the values between the two motorcycles are closer. Aprilia is very strong on the first corners, while Ducati is good in sections with more grip.

The Physical Challenge of the Track

Marquez stated that despite Misano appearing easier from the outside, it was physically very demanding. One of the main reasons for this was that the rear tire largely maintained its performance throughout the race, emphasizing the need for pilots to manage themselves.

This place is more physical. As we saw last year, the rear tire almost never drops, and you can push 100% throughout the entire race. Therefore, you need to manage it.

The Spanish rider stated that he would try to show his maximum performance as always.

I will try to give 100% as always.

Championship Battle and Qualifying Importance

Marc Marquez felt it was incorrect to focus on the competition between himself and Bezzecchi in Misano. He reminded that the leader in the championship is Jorge Martin, and that the Ducati rider Fabio Di Giannantonio and Alex Marquez, who bounced back strongly after an injury, are also important in the competition.

It seems only Bezzecchi and Marc are being talked about: Marc, Marco, Marc, Marco… But the World Champion is Jorge Martin.

Marquez pointed out that due to the close points in the championship standings, even a small mistake could lead to big results. He noted that if attention is lost for a moment, it is possible to finish sixth or seventh instead of third or fourth, as happened last year.

He stated that while first place is the goal, it won't be easy. He stressed that even second place is important. He explained why the times in Misano are so close: the high track grip level and narrow track width make qualifying even more critical. With such high grip and narrow track, everyone nearly brakes and accelerates at almost the same points, making the lap times very close. He emphasized that qualifying is very important for the race.
