MotoGP Pedro Acosta won his first Grand Prix victory. For the 22-year-old rider and KTM, this victory was a major achievement in the third year in the Königklasse. Key stakeholders in the victory included test riders Dani Pedrosa and Pol Espargaro.
Race Results and Espargaro's Commentary
Pol Espargaro finished in 16th place in the Spielberg race. Espargaro was not satisfied with his own performance but was happy for Acosta's victory. While evaluating Acosta's win, Espargaro stated the following:
"He deserved the victory much earlier. But now we cannot say 'The motorcycle is great, that's why Pedro won,' because I think Pedro should have won much earlier. But he deserved it in the end."
Espargaro pointed out Acosta's performance in Spielberg. According to him, he evaluated the development of Acosta's performance as follows:
"He built his speed step by step in Spielberg; he was fantastic in the last races, even better than his performance in Austria. However, the result was not as he wanted."
Acosta's Performance and Future Expectations
Acosta started the race after falling due to a mistake in the Spielberg sprint. Furthermore, he was the fastest rider on track in the short race. Espargaro stated that Acosta thought this was a sprint.
Espargaro shared his views on Acosta's future potential. He thought Acosta could be successful in some races in the future.
"There are races where Pedro could succeed again, for example, on a track similar to the one in Austria, like in Japan."
Race Teams and Upcoming Events
Major races in Japan will take place from February to April. It has not been announced whether Pol Espargaro will race again for the Maverick Vinales in the Tech3 team in Japan. However, it was mentioned that Espargaro conducted a test ride in Spielberg on Monday to monitor his fitness. Whether the Maverick Vinales will be ready for a full race weekend will emerge soon.
