Moto2 Champion Gonzalez's Grid Options Are Strengthening

2 min read · 6 views

Manuel Gonzalez may have a chance to compete in the middle class next season as the Moto2 champion. The Spanish rider signaled his willingness to stay with the team due to the possibility of the WorldSBK option being on the agenda.

WorldSBK Option is on the Agenda

Gonzalez drew attention to the possibility of WorldSBK being present with his statements to Intact GP. Team Manager Jürgen Lingg shared his views on this matter.

I am in the best position right now.

Lingg stated that for Manu to be a good Superbike under these conditions, he really needs to be. He said that if necessary, he would continue with them.

Focusing on Current Success

The Spanish rider stated that he does not see unnecessary reasons to look for a new adventure. Gonzalez argued that focusing on current success is the right path.

We are lucky, I enjoy riding motorcycles and I win races. Why should I look for something new then?

Gonzalez indicated that he did not give up on his MotoGP goal, stating that he is ready. He expressed his desire to show that he could be among the frontrunners when he goes there.

Enjoying the Moment Instead of Pushing Opportunities

Gonzalez believed that focusing on current success is more appropriate than pushing for goals like MotoGP. He stated that these kinds of pushes do not yield the desired result.

Sometimes when you push something too much, you don't get the result you want. In such times, you need to enjoy the moment you are in. If you continue to do the best you can, that opportunity will either come or go.

Gonzalez said that if he wins the Moto2 championship, he will remain in the category next season, and he will remain as the third rider in Moto2 to maintain his championship. It was stated that he is the only person in Moto2 history to have achieved this, having done so before Tito Rabat in 2015 and Johann Zarco in 2016.
