Marc Marquez's Brake Issue Ducati Team Gave Guarantee

3 min read · 5 views

Ducati Team Manager Davide Tardozzi stated that the problem was fully understood and necessary precautions had been taken before the MotoGP. This indicates that the source of the brake problem, which caused Marc Marquez to miss a podium opportunity at the Austrian Grand Prix and cost championship leader Jorge Martin critical points, has been identified. Tardozzi said, "This will never happen again."

Marquez was shown as a podium contender at the Red Bull Ring. He could not adjust his speed due to a problem with the front brake and finished in fifth place. Marquez, the seven-time world champion of MotoGP, stated that he felt "lucky" after seeing the checkered flag at the end of the race.

Source of the Brake Problem Identified

Tardozzi confirmed that the cause of the problem has been determined before the Japanese GP; Ducati, however, avoided explaining the technical details.

We know what it is and we have implemented the necessary solution so that it does not happen again. What the problem is is completely clear from our perspective.

While Tardozzi considered the Austrian event a missed opportunity, he expressed that they are focused on the remainder of the season.

Motegi and Ducati's Goal

For Ducati, the goal is to achieve victory in the MotoGP. However, Tardozzi stated that the team's approach is not solely focused on winning.

We will certainly struggle to be ahead of our competitors. However, our main goal in every race is to be on the podium.

Motegi is critical for Marquez.

Ducati's Concern Regarding Mandalika

The biggest question for Ducati is the Indonesian Grand Prix following Motegi. Ducati is concerned about the reuse of Michelin's harder tire carcass at Mandalika. The Italian manufacturer did not show the expected performance with this tire setup at the Red Bull Ring. The Mandalika track is challenging, and for Marquez, it is statistically a difficult track. The Spanish rider has not finished in the main races in Indonesia to date.

Despite this, Tardozzi relies on Marquez's factor:

We will do the best we can in Indonesia. We know that some of our competitors will be faster than us, but we also know that Marc can do extraordinary things from time to time.

Martin falling 12 points behind Marquez could mean a greater loss of points if technical problems arise in MotoGP. Ducati's reassurance regarding brake issues plays an important role as the season enters the Japan-Indonesia segment.
