Lorenzo Savadori

Italian rider Lorenzo Savadori arrived in the 125cc World Championship with high expectations, backed by a strong résumé in two-stroke competitions. Born in Cesena in 1993, he was introduced to racing by his father and quickly rose through junior ranks. In 2007, he was selected for the inaugural Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup, winning the opening race at Jerez and finishing runner-up in the series. In 2008, Savadori won the Italian 125cc Championship and the European 125cc race at Albacete. That same year, he made his World Championship debut as a wildcard for Aprilia at Mugello, Misano, and Valencia. A full-time ride with Fontana Racing followed in 2009, highlighted by a 9th place at Mugello despite only finishing four of thirteen races. After stints with Matteoni C.P. Racing, he shifted to the CIV STK and FIM STK1000 Cup in 2011. He earned his first STK1000 win in 2012 and placed fifth overall that year and in 2013. In 2014, he finished second, and in 2015, he claimed the championship with four wins and seven podiums. Savadori moved up to WorldSBK in 2016, regularly contending for top ten finishes. In 2019, he joined the MotoE™ Championship with Energica Ego, consistently running near the top ten. He made his MotoGP™ debut at the 2020 European GP with Aprilia and became a full-time rider in 2021. In 2023, he replaced the injured Miguel Oliveira at the historic French GP and made four additional appearances. In 2024, he returned as a wildcard and replacement rider, making seven starts. He continues in that role in 2025, making over 10 appearances as he fills in for the injured World Champion Jorge Martin following separate incidents in pre-season testing and at the Qatar GP and Japanese GP.
