MotoGP races: Pilot Miller expects rain on the new track. The Australian racer shared his views on the track conditions.
Track Assessment
Jack Miller commented on the track conditions before the race weekend. Miller expressed his views on the new asphalt on the Motegi track. Miller stated that racing could be better on this track.
Back here in Japan. The track looks incredible! New asphalt, it should improve. I love to race here on Motegi. I have some good memories here, but the circumstances are completely different this year.
Miller made a forecast about the weather for the weekend. Miller said the weather forecast for the weekend was somewhat uncertain. Miller expressed that they could have a good race weekend in case of rain. If it does not rain, they would show their best effort.
Technical Performance Assessment
Miller commented on the performance of the engine and tires. Miller said that some sections of the track are not long, but the engine behaves well, the braking is good, and the steering is good. Miller stated that the tires held up well and that if there is no abnormal situation, the tires will perform well. He emphasized that there would be good grip on wet surfaces in case of rain.
The track has many straight sections, but they are not particularly long. The motorcycle behaves well, it brakes quite well, and it steers well. If we have grip, it should run well – provided nothing unusual happens to the asphalt, the tires do not fail, or something else unusual occurs. And yes, if it rains, there will be plenty of grip on wet track.
Miller spoke about the Michelin slick tire compound for this weekend. Miller stated that using these tires is not an option. Miller said that if they had to use these tires, they would want to prepare their own gear and go home. He used this statement sarcastically but also stated it was true. Miller expressed that they are ready to see what they can achieve this weekend.
Travel and Preparation
Miller stated that he was very active in the last few days. Miller mentioned that there was a visit to India in his travel plans and that he would be attending a fan event with his Yamaha teammates Fabio Quartararo and Alex Rins there. Miller emphasized that the journey to Japan is long. Miller said that in the last two weeks, they spent over 150 hours in the plane, train, or car. Miller expressed satisfaction with getting off the train in Tokyo last night, staying in accommodation here, and spending one night in a hotel.
