MotoGP races take place every year as a major event of the MotoGP because of the spectacular track and the passionate fans in Asia. The Indonesia Grand Prix is sponsored and hosted by the Indonesian oil and petroleum company Pertamina. Furthermore, Valentino Rossi's VR46 MotoGP team is also supported by this company.
Ducati Special Design
The VR46 team visited the main Pertamina Lubricants center in Jakarta before the Indonesian GP. During this visit, VR46 Director Alessio «Uccio» Salucci and Team Manager Pablo Nieto were present. During this visit, the team members were introduced to the special colors that VR46 Racing will use in the Sunday race. This design is based on the designer who created the special colors for the Italian team, Aldo Drudi.
Ducati Desmosedici is covered with all golden flames and scarlet paint.
Garuda Symbolism
The VR46 Team stated that the colors to be used in the race are a tribute to the national symbols of Indonesia. Garuda is known as the rider of the god Vishnu in Hindu and Buddhist mythology and is considered the national symbol of the Republic of Indonesia. Garuda draws inspiration from Hindu and Buddhist mythology and is included in Indonesian tradition, and the Republic's national symbol is Garuda Pancasila. Garuda represents the fighting spirit and courage; these values are also shared by the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team. Garuda is positioned on the Ducati Desmosedici GP, spreading its wings on both sides of the engine and placing its head on the tank. White and red, the colors of Indonesia, prevail; white serves as the background while red symbolizes Garuda. The design is completed with golden flames.
