Toprak Razgatlıoğlu completed the last position in the Motegi races and finished the Grand Prix in 17th place. After the race, Toprak stated that the front part of the rear tire pushes during braking, making it difficult to maintain consistent performance from lap to lap.
Technical Difficulties During Braking
Toprak Razgatlıoğlu recounted his experience to journalists in Japan.
I experienced the same problem in the race. This tire pushes the motorcycle too far forward during braking. However, after the sixth lap, I found my rhythm and improved my pace significantly. I saw that I could achieve times of 1:44 after the sixth lap. But this was not enough to get results because I was riding on the limit. After a few laps, I started riding better, but I still experienced the same problem. I still ride by trusting the motorcycle. I always ride on the limit and I cannot stop the motorcycle easily.
Differences Encountered with Rival Riders
Toprak Razgatlıoğlu expressed the differences between his situation and the braking techniques of other riders.
This is very strange because when you look at other riders, they brake a bit later, but they stop the motorcycle much easier. I am fighting the motorcycle. Therefore, it is very difficult to maintain the same pace every lap. Fabio rides the motorcycle much better because he knows how to stop the motorcycle. Also, they are much more experienced. They have been using the Yamaha motorcycle for many years and they know how to stop it. I lock the front tire too much during braking and I lose a lot. If I feel better and I can stop the motorcycle at the right point, I think I can improve my lap time significantly.
