The results of the practice sessions before the MotoGP races attracted attention at the San Marino Grand Prix. Marco Bezzecchi finished first in the practice session with a lap time of 1:30.144. This session prepared the ground for the qualifying sessions scheduled for the afternoon.
Leadership and Standings in Practice
In the first part of the day, Bezzecchi finished in the lead, followed by Marc Marquez in second place by 0.103 seconds. Alex Marquez was third, lagging by 0.185 seconds. Fabio Di Giannantonio finished fourth, Franco Morbidelli fifth, and Pedro Acosta sixth. Luca Marini was seventh, Johann Zarco eighth, and Pol Espargaro ninth. Jorge Martin took tenth place and was the last driver to qualify for Q2.
Bezzecchi's lap time was faster than his pole time of 1:30.222 from last year. In comparison, the fastest MotoGP lap on track is currently Francesco Bagnaia's 1:30.031 from 2024. Although he recorded one lap in the early part of the session, it was discarded due to an infringement of track limits.
Yamaha Rider Performance
The clearest table of the session was formed in the back of the grid. Bezzecchi was the only Yamaha rider to finish outside the top four. Alex Rins was in 18th place, and Fabio Quartararo was in 16th place, in the best position for the team. Additionally, Gururumuz [Toprak Razgatlıoğlu] finished with a time of 1:32.071, lagging 1.927 seconds behind the leader. His teammate Jack Miller finished in 20th place, 0.504 seconds ahead of the leader. Miller was the only rider to finish in the same position twice on the day. The Prima Pramac Yamaha rider crashed on lap four during the afternoon session. The representative had a strong connection to this track for the weekend.
Critical Assessments
Drivers expressed their expectations regarding the session results. Marco Bezzecchi stated that when he last won three consecutive races in Misano, he had achieved three consecutive race victories.

Francesco Bagnaia finished the session in 19th place with the Ducati Lenovo. This result means that the Italian rider will miss Q1 for the third consecutive time this season. Immediately ahead of him were Enea Bastianini (11th), Raul Fernandez (12th), and Fermin Aldeguer (13th). Joan Mir was in 14th place, and Brad Binder was in 15th. Diogo Moreira finished in 17th place.
Saturday Schedule
The weekend will continue with the second practice and qualifying sessions. MotoGP Free Practice 2 will start at 11:10 CEST. Qualifying sessions will take place at 11:50 CEST and will determine the grid for the sprint race and the main race. The day will conclude with the Tissot Sprint. The 13-lap sprint will start at 16:00 CEST, and the representative will have to compete in Q1 for a good grid position.
