Pedro Acosta Faces Technical Issues During Race

In the second quarter of the Speedweek MotoGP event, Pedro Acosta finished seventh, starting from the third row. The initial phase of the 13-lap sprint proceeded well, with the Spaniard holding fifth position after the first lap and maintaining close proximity to the leading quartet.

The Duel and Technical Challenges

The race saw a significant confrontation when Fermin Aldeguer (Ducati) challenged Acosta. The duel between the two riders resulted in a loss of time for both. Acosta stated that Aldeguer and he had made mistakes, which cost them valuable time, noting that without the duel, they would have been closer to Martin. Despite the time loss, Acosta maintained that the competition was fair. During the duel lap, Acosta lost approximately one and a half seconds to the leader, Marc Marquez. Following the confrontation, Acosta had to maintain position behind Raul Fernandez (Aprilia).

Acosta also made a tactical decision regarding the tire choice, opting for the soft compound, which complicated his performance. He acknowledged that this choice made things more difficult. Acosta did not have a good race, and he did not experience a mood boost. He attributed this to numerous technical issues that occurred throughout the race, stressing that it is frustrating when attempts to perform do not succeed. Despite the circumstances, Acosta was satisfied with his sixth place finish. He emphasized that all KTM drivers faced the same problem.

Race Outlook

Acosta’s current standing in the World Championship remains at 193 points, securing sixth place. Looking ahead to the next race, Acosta expressed uncertainty about the outcome, stating that he did not know if he would even wake up the following day. However, he acknowledged the difficult situation they were in, because they did not understand the source of the problems they were experiencing.
