Francesco Bagnaia was placed 13th in the qualifying due to grip issues experienced on track during the San Marino race. The team driver shared the difficulties he experienced during the race and his feelings about the track.

Race Performance and Technical Difficulties

Italian racer Francesco Bagnaia shared the difficulties he experienced during the race and his feelings about the track. Bagnaia spoke about the experiences he had throughout the race. Bagnaia described his experiences in the sprint race, detailing his efforts during the start and long laps. Bagnaia expressed his struggle to maintain speed on the track and his interaction with other racers. Bagnaia emphasized that the situation on track was difficult.

Bagnaia said the following about his experiences:

I tried! My start was better than in the sprint, and after Franky disappeared into the long lap, I tried to stay with Diggia. Then I tried to take only a little more speed through Turn 2. Unfortunately, the result was a crash—which fortunately was harmless. Unfortunately—like the entire weekend.

Feeling About Grip on Track

Bagnaia expressed that the grip level on track was low. Speaking about the challenging atmosphere of the race, Bagnaia stated that the current situation on track has not changed and his emotional state remains the same. The racer indicated that he felt the lack of grip but that this feeling was not internal to him. Bagnaia interpreted the current situation on track as follows:

It is just like that—we are now in this difficult situation and we must continue looking for a solution. The situation is unchanged—the feeling is zero. I also spoke with other colleagues today, and they confirm what we know: The track here has a lot of grip—only I don't feel it.

Future Goals

Bagnaia, a two-time champion, holds great hopes for the upcoming Austrian race next week. Drawing from his experiences on track, the racer stated that he is working to relive the feeling he desires. Bagnaia expressed that he remembers the best moments on the track and that the circuit is very close to him.

Bagnaia said the following about the upcoming race:

Nevertheless, I look forward to the Red Bull Ring. I have the best memories of the track, and the circuit is generally very close to me—we are working so that I will have the feeling I need there again.
