VR46 rider Fabio Di Giannantonio is demonstrating a cautious approach ahead of the Italian race. The Italian rider is competing with the current factory Ducati motorcycle. The Misano track is of great importance to Di Giannantonio. However, before the race, the rider shared his expectations by pointing out his shortcomings in the summit battles.
Pressure on the VR46 Rider
Fabio Di Giannantonio shared his expectations before the weekend with the following words:
Of course, we Italians here always have extra driving power thanks to the fans in Misano. But I still expect a very tough weekend. Recently, we have experienced situations where we can no longer say ‘This is an Aprilia track’ or ‘This is a Ducati track,’ like in Aragon. But the reality is that last year Marco was ready for pole position. For me to be in the lead, everything must be absolutely flawless. But we will try.
The rider also pointed out his shortcomings regarding consistency in races:
When looking at the points table, I seem very consistent; however, my weakness is consistency at the top. In this regard, I do not feel flawless. What I cannot achieve is executing everything perfectly, from flawless qualifying laps to flawless races. Marc succeeds at this. He has the ability to deliver perfect weekends. There are still areas I need to learn and continue working on.
Track History and Performance Analysis
The Italian rider made comments about his track history:
I had good races and podiums in smaller classes. However, to enjoy the Panigale and Misano, I needed to do a very, very large number of laps during training. But Misano was never the track where I was strongest.
The success of the Ducati Desmosedici model on the track has been proven repeatedly in the past. For example, in the San Marino GP 12 months ago, Bezzecchi narrowly beat his rival who reached the World Championship with the Ducati Lenovo factory team.
Overall Classification Standings
He also evaluated his position in the overall classification before the race. The leader in the overall standings, Jorge Martin, is in fourth place, trailing by 53 points. Marco Bezzecchi is right ahead of the rider. Di Giannantonio stated that he does not see himself at the same level as Bezzecchi in this ranking.
Performance Notes
Since the German Grand Prix, a decline has been observed in the KTM Sportcase performance graph. Furthermore, accidents occurred after the sprint podium in Germany. These accidents caused the Italian rider to finish in fifth, sixth, and seventh places. The inability to race due to an injury to Trackhouse rider Ai Ogura limited the loss of points.
