The rider of the Ducati Panigale V4 R, Nicolo Bulega, could complete the 2026 WorldSBK season as champion. However, for the championship to be finalized, a margin must be established to compensate for the 133-point advantage held by Ducati rider Iker Lecuona.
Required Margin for the Championship
There are a total of 62 points across the three races remaining at Magny-Cours. For Bulega to be champion, he must score at least 53 points more than Lecuona. This situation is considered a very difficult scenario to achieve.
If Lecuona reaches a total of 10 points over the three races, Bulega will carry the championship decision into the next race week, even if he scores all the points. Therefore, the key to the championship calculation will be Lecuona's point losses rather than Bulega's results.
Ducati's Season Performance
Bulega has won 23 out of the first 24 races this season. The only race he failed to win was finished in second place. The Italian rider has managed to show superiority in wet conditions and technical tracks. Although the performance of the Ducati Panigale V4 R is strong across the grid, it is stated that the difference created by Bulega alongside his teammates and other Ducati riders cannot be explained solely by motorcycle superiority.
Championship Possibility
If the championship does not take place at Magny-Cours, the next venue will be Cremona, Ducati's home country. This possibility is not seen as a bad result for Bulega or Ducati. Bulega's main goal in France may be to continue winning races rather than forcing mathematical scenarios, and to bring the title to Italy in a safe manner.
