The MotoGP team is focusing on the Vespa, which celebrates 80 years of existence. This vehicle is presented as the main motif for the MotoGP squad, emphasizing its role as the backbone of the company. The complete racing team dedicates its appearance at the GP to this scooter, which has been built approximately 20 million times over the decades. This connection links the racing world to Formula 1.
Honoring Legends
Racing CEO Massimo Rivola explained the significance of this tribute during the event in Misano. He stated that honoring the Vespa, an icon that has lasted through generations and remains a globally recognized symbol, would be negligent. Rivola emphasized that celebrating this connection to Gilles Villeneuve, one of the most popular drivers in Formula 1 history, serves as a way to honor two icons who have left deep marks on the history and collective imagination of millions of people.
Rivola further noted that the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Madrid, taking place that weekend, also adds to this theme. In 1981, Gilles Villeneuve secured his last victory, marking the year from which the racing suit is interpreted anew.
Livery Changes
Recently, the MotoGP racer Marco Bezzecci received a repaint during a PR action in Sepang. Although the white prototype, Bezzecchi, was positioned in a "bride look" (black single-cylinder), the actual difference lies in the details. The current riders are competing in white, alongside the Vespa motif.
