Rider's Statements
Alex Marquez spoke about the mistakes he made:
On Sunday, I made two mistakes in total during the warm-up and the race. The position doesn't matter, because this is always disappointing!
Marquez also explained the reasons for his falls:
I did not place my foot where it belongs on the motorcycle. Therefore, I downshifted twice instead of once down. That is why I fell because the motorcycle tilted after I pushed it forward. These are mistakes I cannot afford. Not even twice on the same day!
Last tire choice became a controversial topic at the end of the race weekend. Michelins, who recommended the hardest tires for the Sprint race, advised the toughest tires for Sunday. However, it was emphasized that using a tire that drivers had not yet tested was a surprise. Marquez shared an anecdote about tires during a team meeting:
We made jokes about the tires in the morning, that if the tire works, it proves: We have no idea about motorcycles!
It was stated that the tire choice was a surprise for the drivers.
